GATESVILLE — A ban on outdoor burning in unincorporated areas of Coryell County is back in effect after being lifted for three weeks.

The county commissioners court imposed the burn ban on June 24. After several inches of rainfall in July, the court voted to lift the ban, one week at a time, on July 15, July 22 and July 29.

With the return of hot, dry conditions in the county, Fire Chief Billy Vaden recommended the ban not be lifted again.

By taking no action, the commissioners let the burn ban go back into effect.
