Post identifies soldier who died following accident

Fort Hood officials on Tuesday released the name of a soldier who died of injuries resulting from a motorcycle accident Saturday in Austin.

Spc. Yosbel Perez, 26, of Miami, entered active-duty service in October 2006 as a motor transport operator.

Perez arrived at Fort Hood in October and was most recently assigned to 115th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division.

He deployed to Iraq from July 2007 to September 2008 and Afghanistan from April 2011 to April 2012.

Perez’s awards and decorations include three Army Commendation Medals, an Army Achievement Medal, two Army Good Conduct Medals, a National Defense Service Medal, an Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, an Iraqi Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, an Army Service Ribbon, an Overseas Service Ribbon, a NATO Medal, a Combat Action Badge and a Driver and Mechanic Badge.
