Killeen native Alexis Harris won a nationwide model search sponsored by CoverGirl and Ellen DeGeneres.

During an announcement in Thursday’s episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” Harris received $20,000 and was named an official CoverGirl. She’ll shoot a campaign with DeGeneres next month, which will run in an upcoming issue of People magazine.

Harris, who graduated from Shoemaker High School and attends the University of Texas-San Antonio, has given back to Killeen through her organization, Students Making Impacts In Lives Everywhere.

The organization launched June 25, and the SMIILE founder and CEO has held food drives for the Mission Soup Kitchen and a clothing drive that benefited the Hope Pregnancy Center, Killeen Salvation Army and Families in Crisis.
