A standoff at a Killeen residence early Saturday ended peacefully with the suspect’s arrest.
Killeen police received a 911 call at 3:45 a.m. Saturday from a woman involved in a domestic disturbance in the 4200 block of Alan Kent Drive.
When the officers met the woman on Cascade Drive, she told them she had been assaulted by her fiance and he refused to give her their 3-year-old child, according to a news release. She said he had weapons inside the residence and made several threats to harm her and the child. The woman was transported to Metroplex Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.
Officers contacted the man by phone and he kept telling them he was not at home. During the conversation, officers determined he was at the residence, but he refused to come outside and the Killeen Police Department’s Tactical Response Unit was deployed, officials said. When members of the TRU broke a window to get a communication device to the man, he surrendered with the child, who was unharmed.
The man was taken into custody at 7:30 a.m. Saturday and transported to the Killeen City Jail. Police would not release his name and said charges were pending review by the Bell County district attorney’s office.
