A Lampasas teen remains in stable condition at McLane Children’s Hospital Scott & White in Temple after accidentally shooting himself in the face early Saturday morning.

Lampasas patrol officers responded to a 911 call and discovered a 17-year-old male shot himself in the face with a small-caliber handgun. Lt. Jody Cummings said the investigation revealed a group of seven teenagers, ranging in ages from 16 to 19, were present when the shooting occurred.

19-year-olds are not "teenagers" anymore, they are adults. 17-year-olds are minors and are not authorized to have handguns. Why did this happen?
