The northbound lane of Trimmier Road from Illinois Avenue to Arkansas Avenue will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. today to Thursday, according to a news release.

The city of Killeen said the closure is for utility work that involves open-cut excavation to replace sewer mains.

The city advised drivers to plan alternate routes during work hours.

On Monday, city work crews were conducting asphalt overlay and paving activities on Trimmier Road from U.S. Highway 190/Interstate 14 to Jasper Drive.

The road is scheduled for intermittent closures from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. until Wednesday as part of the Trimmier Road widening project, which will create a continuous center turn lane from Jasper Drive to Elms Road and improve sidewalks and intersections.

Substantial project completion is scheduled for December.
