COPPERAS COVE - The Copperas Cove Independent School District school board approved the purchase of three new buses during its regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday night.
The new buses will replace old ones that are no longer economical to drive.
The transportation budget contains $300,000 to purchase the buses but any purchase over $25,000 must be approved by the board according to board policy.
The board also accepted two donations:
Altrusa International Inc. of Copperas Cove donated $1,500 to the district for the purchase of school supplies.
The Copperas Cove Education Foundation presented a check for $19,772.88, which will go to nine teacher grants.
The board unanimously approved to spend $71,000 from the technology budget for two Dell Equal Logic storage servers. According to information provided by the district, the servers will allow the district to move forward with its virtualization and off-site disaster recovery projects.
The technology budget contains $75,000.
According to a construction update, construction on House Creek Elementary School is on schedule. The ground level structural steel is completed and the first floor structural steel is in progress.
The masonry work is going up on the ground level exterior and the mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough-in continues on the ground level. The underground geothermal loop lines are complete.
The ground level is expected to be dried-in by the end of the month.
