Belton - Cedar Crest Hospital & RTC appointed Edmund Cavazos III its medical director.

He served in the Army Medical Corps and was the former medical consultant and medical review officer for the Army Drug and Alcohol Prevention Control Program, as well as the chief of inpatient psychiatry at Ireland Community Hospital at Fort Knox, Ky., according to a news release. His goals include being a vocal advocate for patient care and rights.

"We are very pleased to add a leader of such capability to our medical staff," said Ingrid Whipple, Cedar Crest's chief executive officer. "Our patients and staff will benefit from his experience and dedication as well as a being great clinical asset to Central Texas."
