To get a jumpstart on the city's second farmers market, the Harker Heights Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting vendor applications.
"The Harker Heights Farmers Market provides a venue where local farmers, producers and crafters can come together to provide a variety of fresh produce and related products directly to the consumer," said Heather Cox, activity coordinator for the parks and recreation department.
For the second season, department officials are seeking a good ratio of agriculture and food vendors to craft vendors.
This year's farmers market will take place each Saturday from May 5 to Oct. 27 in Carl Levin Park. Vendors should visit www.ci.harker-heights.tx.us to print an application and view the requirements under the program listings.
"There is no fee to be a vendor; however, if vendors make any kind of food they need a health certificate, and they can get that from the Bell County Health Department," said Sarah Rodriguez, activities specialist for the parks and recreation department.
The vendor application deadline is April 23. Applicants can scan and email completed documents to firstname.lastname@example.org or mail them to Sarah Rodriguez at 400 Indian Trail, Harker Heights, TX 76548.
Local residents can drop off their forms with Rodriguez or Cox at the Harker Heights Library and Activities Center.
