Applications for many scholarships are now available through the Texas AgriLife
Extension Service and Bell County 4-H program. High school seniors should visit the Bell County 4-H website if you are interested in applying for these scholarships.
The website address is: http://agrilife.org/bell4h/4-h-activities/scholarships/.
Many of the deadlines are early in 2011, so be sure to get your applications completed as soon as possible. If you need help completing a scholarship form, contact an extension agent at (254) 933-5305 to make an appointment, and we will be glad to work with you.
The Texas 4-H Scholarships will be due Feb. 1 to the extension office. The agents must check and review the scholarships before sending it off to the district, so try to bring the scholarship application to the office no later than Monday. Other scholarships and deadlines are available on the website.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is available to graduating seniors applying for college. FAFSA determines eligibility for students to receive financial aid. Most scholarships, colleges, universities and grants require FAFSA when awarding other forms of school funds to students.
Be ready for your senior year. Remember, you only have four months until graduation and deadlines are concrete when it comes to college applications, financial aid or scholarships. It is a really great idea to make a checklist and mark your calendar with all the deadlines you need to meet.
