BELTON - The city of Belton's Youth Advisory Commission is looking to the community for volunteers and donations to help with the first "One Community – One Day" spring cleanup effort.

The event is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 2.

Participants are asked to meet at the Harris Community Center before starting their assigned tasks.

Volunteers will perform a variety of tasks for more than a dozen people who applied for help with such activities as painting, tilling a garden, window washing and yard work.

Most of those in need of assistance are elderly and/or disabled, according to the city's support services coordinator, Jerri Gauntt, who oversees YAC. Donations of supplies and tools also are needed.

Dumpsters will be placed around town to encourage those who cannot participate in the projects to clean up their yards.

To volunteer, contact Belton Parks & Recreation at (254) 933-5860 or e-mail
