Herald/Sarah Moore Kuschell - Adrian Ragan, 18 - A kid with experience - Adrian is probably one of the youngest members of the Crabtree Carnival. - Like many teenagers, he’s got a tongue piercing, long hair and wears a beanie and hooded sweatshirt. - He has friends who also work at the carnival, his own travel trailer and family members who work and travel with him. His father, mother, two sisters and cousin all work and travel with the Crabtree Carnival. - Adrian’s father had his own carnival and Adrian began helping him at about age 10. At age 15, he started helping set up kiddie rides, and at age 18, he was hired to set up the big rides. - Adrian says he likes living on the road, calling it interesting. - “We do a lot of stuff no one else does,” Adrian said, and like many people his age, added that he’d hate to have a 9-to-5 job where he lives in the same place year-round. - “I get to meet people every day,” Adrian said. - He was home-schooled for many years and attended public high school for one year; even though he didn’t have a traditional upbringing, Adrian said he doesn’t feel like he missed out on anything. - “This is all I know,” he said with a smile.
