GATESVILLE - Coryell Commissioners on Tuesday approved more than $155,000 in improvements for the Sheriff's Department in the coming months in order to support a two-station operation.

Bids will be gathered to expand the department's booking desk. County sheriff Johnny Burks said the expansion project should take two or three days and would expedite the process of booking inmates.

Bids also will be secured to add a jail control system, lighting, intercom, digital video recorders and additional cameras.

The projects will be funded through a certificate of obligation.
