The burn ban has been lifted for unincorporated areas of Coryell County, following substantial rainfall over the weekend.

The lifting of the burn ban was announced by County Judge John Firth and is effective until sunset Sunday.

The burn ban is being temporarily lifted to allow residents to burn as needed and hopefully mitigate future wild fires by burning off dead vegetation during this low threat window following the rains, Firth said in a news release.
