GRAPEVINE — The cots were dispensed at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and airport staffers passed out free coffee, cookies and sandwiches to iced-in travelers.

A few dozen people appeared to be sleeping on cots Saturday afternoon inside Terminal D at the sprawling airport.

Others, like 26-year-old Joel Dutton, found diversions like watching football on their laptop computers.

Dutton was trying to get home to Huntsville, Ala., after a yearlong Christian mission trip.

He said he’s used to traveling and backpacking, so it’s not his first time sleeping at an airport.
