Outgoing Killeen Councilman Dick Young is expected to make a statement at Tuesday´s City Council meeting regarding an anonymous letter targeting him that was mailed to several members of the Killeen business community two weeks ago.

Young has scheduled a 1:30 p.m. press conference Tuesday at City Hall prior to the meeting.

Last week, Young told the Herald that he would address the issue at tomorrow´s meeting but declined to comment specifically on the content of the letter. Postmarked May 5 and mailed from an Austin location, the one-page, copier-produced letter with Young´s picture on it alleges his role in a crime and alleges that it was detected by a law enforcement officer but not reported.

The Killeen City Council meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall.

Also at the meeting, the City Council will vote on an ordinance that would establish a land disturbance permit, requiring developers to study erosion early in the building process.

This will be the final meeting for council members Young, Bob Hausmann and Mayor Pro Tem Ernest Wilkerson, whose terms are ending.

New council members Juan Rivera, Claudia Brown and Kenny Wells will be sworn in and a new mayor pro tem will be selected.

Go online to throughout the day Tuesday for audio and further coverage of Young´s statement.
