BELTON - A Houston couple have been indicted in Bell County on organized crime charges after they allegedly went on a check-forgery spree at several area Walmarts.

A Bell County grand jury returned indictments against Myosha Java Rhine-Jackson, 33, and Michael Shawn Ryals, 39, Wednesday. Both have been charged with engaging in organized criminal activity, a third-degree felony.

A third person, Tonyika Tanyae Jones, also has been charged in the incident. However, Jones was not indicted Wednesday. Bell County Assistant District Attorney Murff Bledsoe said her case remains under investigation.

According to arrest reports, the trio had purchased goods at Walmarts in Harker Heights, Temple, Austin, Alice and Brenham. At each spot, they used official-looking checks with routing numbers tracing to a bank in The Woodlands. Each check had a different account number, which did not list any of the suspects as its owner.

Harker Heights police believe the suspects bought items at Walmarts with forged checks and then returned them at other locations for cash.

A Texas Department of Public Safety officer detained the three during a May 29 traffic stop in

Ellis County, the report states.

While searching their vehicle, the trooper found several bags of merchandise purchased at Walmart. The suspects told the officer the items had been purchased with checks, though none of them could produce the checks for the officer, the report states.

Suspects had programmed the locations of 20 Texas Walmarts in a GPS device, which was found to belong to Ryals, the report states.
