Cove man jailed for shooting 2 dogs

COPPERAS COVE — A man who allegedly told police he shot his two dogs is free on $5,000 bond.

Justice of the Peace John Guinn arraigned Johnnie Nelson Randolph on charges of cruelty to animals on Friday.

Randolph was arrested when police officers responded to a 911 call of shots fired. He allegedly told officers the dogs were aggressive and he had to shoot them.

According to police reports, officers found the two dogs alive with gunshot wounds from a 9 mm pistol. One dog was shot in the face and the other in the back.

Drug possession charge

Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke arraigned Ladreanna Dawn Butler, 40, on a felony charge of possession of cocaine, less than 1 gram.

Butler was arrested Thursday after a Killeen police officer pulled her over for a traffic stop.

According to an arrest affidavit, Butler was found in possession of .00016 grams of cocaine.

Cooke arraigned Butler on Friday, and set her bail at $20,000.
