COPPERAS COVE — The city will conduct road closures today for the Robert Griffin III Boulevard dedication ceremony featuring the Washington Redskins quarterback, and officials are anticipating a big crowd.

“There is a good chance this will be well attended,” said City Manager Andrea Gardner.

Since the ceremony will take place near the intersection of Robert Griffin III Boulevard and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, the city on Thursday decided to close MLK at Constitution Drive and Robert Griffin III Boulevard after the entrance to H-E-B Plus, Gardner said.

The closures will take place between 12:45 and 3 p.m. today. The ceremony starts at 2 p.m.

“We weren’t going to close roads at all, but we decided it would be best for the safety and security for all involved,” said Monica Hull, director of business development at the Cove EDC.

Both the economic development corporation and the chamber have received numerous inquiries about the ceremony, Hull said.

“We heard Baylor University will be bringing a contingent with them, and we expect a lot of his friends and family will be in attendance,” she said.

Residents who want to attend the road dedication ceremony should still access the ceremony site using the Five Hills shopping center’s main entrance at U.S. Highway 190.

Hull also suggested attendees show up no later than 1:30 p.m.

The closures also shouldn’t affect access to the H-E-B Plus.

Also participating in the ceremony are the city, the Cove EDC, Cove Chamber of Commerce and Endeavor Real Estate — the Five Hills shopping center’s developer.

Hope KDH will have lots of pictures of this event honoring one of the countrys (and maybe even the world)[smile] most noted NFL players.
RG3 has brought a lot of attention to the schools and teams ,Cove Bull Dawgs & Baylor Bears/ that he has attended and played ball for through his life.
Further good luck to him in the game of professional football and whatever else he decides to do during his lifetime.
