A 21-year-old man turned himself in to Killeen police Friday morning after being accused of choking a woman.

Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke arraigned Timothy Charles Hochberger Friday, setting his bail at $50,000. Hochberger was charged with assault by strangulation in connection with an incident in October.

The alleged victim contacted police in early November and told officers Hochberger assaulted her on Oct. 25, an arrest affidavit stated.

During a verbal argument, Hochberger placed the woman in a “choke hold” that prevented her from breathing, the affidavit stated. When he released her, she vomited.

Police reviewed text messages in which Hochberger made references to the alleged assault that indicated he had strangled the woman. He remained in Bell County Jail on Friday.
