Two women who allegedly broke into a Killeen apartment and attacked a person with a hammer and a baton are behind bars and facing felony burglary charges.
Adrienne Latrice Barnes, 35, of Copperas Cove, and Nikki Crawford, 26, of Killeen, were arraigned on a second-degree felony charge of burglary of a habitation Monday by Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin.
The burglary occurred Feb. 21 at the Modern Inn on Root Avenue, according to an arrest affidavit.
Killeen police officers responded to a report of a fight, and saw the two women running out of an apartment as they approached.
Inside the apartment, they found a woman who was visibly injured and lying on the floor.
Witnesses told police that Barnes, Crawford and the third woman forced their way into the apartment and beat the victim with a hammer and an expandable baton, the affidavits stated.
The victim was sent to the hospital for treatment, and later identified the three women who attacked her.
Potvin set Barnes’ and Crawford’s bail at $50,000 each. The third woman has not been arraigned, according to Potvin’s office.
Potvin also arraigned Jesse Michael Decarlo, 26, on an unrelated charge of aggravated assault. Potvin set Decarlo’s bail at $100,000.
