COPPERAS COVE — A man accused of assault is free on $14,000 bond.
Judge William Price arraigned Thomas Miles Triplett, of Copperas Cove, on charges of injury to a child, assault causing bodily harm to a family member and interference with an emergency telephone call.
The charge of injury to a child is a third-degree felony, and Triplett could face jail time if convicted. The interference with an emergency telephone call, a misdemeanor, stemmed from Triplett’s allegedly breaking the victim’s cellphone and ripping the telephone cord out of the wall when she tried to dial 911.
Officers arrested Triplett on Monday at his home after they met with one of the victims at the police department and saw red marks on her left arm and a bruise on her right forearm.
The victim said the marks occurred during an altercation with Triplett, who allegedly tried to strangle her.
She told police Triplett grabbed another family member, leaving red marks on his chest and shoulder area.
