GATESVILLE— A Copperas Cove woman was sentenced to 10 years after attempting to attack an officer and being shot.

A 52nd District Court jury sentenced Amanda Lynn Jackel, 23, of Copperas Cove to 10 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Thursday night.

Jackel was found guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a public servant earlier Thursday after a trial for the case started on Monday.

Cove Police responded to a suicide call on Feb. 14, where Jackel threatened an officer with a knife, stated a news release from Dusty Boyd’s District Attorney’s Office. The officer shot three rounds at the Jackel to stop the attack.
