GATESVILLE — Sentencing is scheduled Feb. 28 for Christopher Edward Evans who was found guilty on Wednesday for assault with a deadly weapon.
Police arrested Evans, 35, of Gatesville, after he pulled a handgun on Kevin Drayton, the boyfriend of his ex-wife in the Gatesville H-E-B parking lot on Jan. 7, 2013.
The threat occurred when Evans was handing over a child to his ex-wife and Drayton was present.
Evans pointed a .38-caliber revolver at Drayton and told him he was going to die that night.
Several witnesses told police that they heard and saw Evans threaten Drayton.
Police arrested Evans and recovered a loaded weapon at the scene.
Evans has remained in the Coryell County Jail on nearly $68,000 bond since Jan. 8, 2013.
