COPPERAS COVE — A 19-year-old Copperas Cove man remained in Coryell County Jail on Monday, after police arrested him on a charge of stealing a woman’s checkbook and credit card in March and using them on road trips.

Justice of the Peace Bill Price arraigned Tim Blackburn on Saturday on charges of debit card abuse and forgery of a financial instrument. Price set his bond for felony charges at $10,000.

According to the arrest complaint, a woman discovered her wallet was missing on March 15. On March 16, Blackburn reportedly returned the wallet with a note.

The note allegedly stated Blackburn used her debit card to pay for gas twice and buy food while in Austin and San Antonio, the complaint stated. However, bank statements said there was a total of eight debit charges made to the woman’s account.

On March 18, the bank reportedly showed her a check that was cashed to Blackburn, which the woman claimed was written by him.

About $295 was reported stolen in these incidents, the complaint stated.
