COPPERAS COVE — An expired license plate resulted in a Cove man’s arrest on multiple felony charges Tuesday.

Judge John Guinn arraigned Terry Ray Jack on $20,000 bond on possession of a firearm, $10,000 bond on possession of a controlled substance between 1 and 4 grams, $5,000 bond on possession of a dangerous drug, and $2,500 bond on possession of marijuana under 2 ounces.

According to reports, Jack was pulled over in the 100 block of North Avenue C after police ran the car’s license plates and discovered they expired in 2012.

When police searched Jack, they allegedly found a loaded black .22-caliber Beretta in his back right pants pocket. He was allegedly in possession of a small black case containing five clear plastic bags containing crystal methamphetamine weighing 1.4 grams.

The case also allegedly contained two clear plastic bags of yellow and white pills and a small glass vial of yellow liquid.

Jack was unable to provide a prescription for the medication. The officers later identified the pills as cyclobenzaprine and trazodone.

While speaking with officers, Jack allegedly pulled a clear plastic bag containing marijuana weighing 1.9 grams from his front left shirt pocket. He was subsequently arrested along with the driver of the vehicle, Shannon Alt, who was wanted on several outstanding warrants.

In two other unrelated cases on Sunday:

  • Judge John Guinn arraigned Dion Cyrus Colbert on $8,000 bond on charges of possession of a controlled substance after police allegedly found 0.5 grams of cocaine in the left pocket of the shorts he was wearing.
  • Judge John Guinn arraigned William Andrew Hendrix on charges of theft of a firearm after officers were dispatched to Washington Avenue on a call that a drunken man was trying to get his wife to shoot him with a handgun.

Officers discovered the weapon was reported stolen in 2011 when they called in the serial number.
