Monday was a holiday for many, but not for Copperas Cove police, who were busy with several arrests including some resulting from alleged intoxication.

On Tuesday, Justice of the Peace John Guinn arraigned Michael Andrew Igel on a $4,000 bond on charges of unlawful carrying of a weapon and a $10,000 bond on charges of assault of a family member.

On Monday, according to police reports, Igel was allegedly intoxicated when his female roommate, who also was allegedly intoxicated, told him that a black male had tried to pull her into his backyard.

Igel allegedly went, armed with knives, looking for the man.

When police spotted Igel in the 300 block of Saddle Drive, he was not wearing a shirt and officers said they could see knives in his hand. However, upon handcuffing Igel, police said he had no knives on his person.

Igel allegedly told police he tossed them in front of his house when he saw the police car.

Earlier in the evening, Igel was allegedly arguing with his wife about the roommate and Igel allegedly choked his wife for about 10 seconds, impeding her breathing.

In an unrelated case on Jan. 18, Justice of the Peace Guinn also arraigned Daniel Anthony Page, 29, on $20,000 bond on charges of possession of a controlled substance.

On Jan. 18, Page was pulled over by Cove police officers after he failed to use his turn signal in the 1200 block of Georgetown Road. After initiating a traffic stop. officers asked Page if he would consent to a search.

According to reports, officers allegedly found marijuana in the floorboard of the vehicle and two bags of methamphetamine, weighing 5.3 grams, in Page’s right boot.

As of Thursday, Page remained in the Coryell County Jail.
