COPPERAS COVE — Police arrested a Cove man suspected of breaking into a house and assaulting a woman after he left the home earlier in the morning.
Justice of the Peace John Guinn on Tuesday arraigned Lamarr Alexander Duff, 27, on a charge of burglary of a habitation with intent to commit assault. Guinn set his bond at $20,000.
According to an arrest affidavit, Duff was visiting the woman’s house until about 2:10 a.m. Sept. 19.
The victim went to sleep then woke up about 20 minutes later to allegedly see Duff standing over her wearing a red bandana concealing his face.
Duff then grabbed a blanket from her bed and threw it over her, according to the affidavit. He then pinned her arms down.
Moments later, he jumped off the victim and ran away, the affidavit stated. The victim grabbed a knife from the kitchen and found her children’s bedroom window open.
Later, the victim reportedly discovered a cloth belt that belonged to Duff under the window.
In an unrelated incident, Guinn arraigned Christopher Lynn Starbuk on a charge of failure to register as a sex offender. Guinn set his bond at $15,000.
