COPPERAS COVE — Police arrested a woman accused of attacking a man while using a toilet Friday night. She did not remain in Coryell County Jail on Monday.

Justice of the Peace John Guinn arraigned Elizabeth Arlene Canning on Sunday on a charge of continuous violence against the family. Guinn set her bond at $10,000.

Canning was reportedly mad at the man for not answering his phone while he was at work, an arrest affidavit stated.

The man came home at 11:30 p.m. Friday and reportedly was using the bathroom when Canning entered the room.

Canning yelled, spit in the man’s face and pushed the bathroom door in his face, the affidavit stated.

The victim then stood up to leave, but Canning grabbed him by the neck and began to choke him, the affidavit stated.

The man eventually pushed Canning off him and left the residence.

Officers said they observed redness on the victim’s neck.

In unrelated incidents, Guinn also arraigned the following:

Edward Gallardo Orozco on Sunday on a charge of assault family member by impeding breathing and circulation. Guinn set his bond at $20,000. Orozco allegedly choked a woman after he spanked a child who touched his laptop.

Brittany Marie Simpkins on Saturday on charge of theft of more than $1,500 but less than $20,000. Guinn set her bond at $7,000.

Derson Martin Simpkins on Saturday on a charge of theft more than $1,500 but less than $20,000. Guinn set his bond at $7,000.
