A Copperas Cove High School student was detained following a report to Cove police that the student had prohibited weapons on campus Thursday and made threatening remarks to other students.

Earl Parcell, Copperas Cove High School principal, sent parents a letter Friday, explaining a report was made Thursday night at the police station about the alleged incident.

Officials were unavailable for further comment Friday, but the letter said “the safety of CCHS students and staff is of the greatest importance.”

Parcell urged parents and students to report any suspicious or illegal behavior or safety concerns to administrators or police.
