Darnall employee sentenced for prescription fraud

FORT HOOD - A former Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center employee was placed on probation Wednesday for using fraudulent prescriptions to obtain painkillers.

Haleh Joi Rollerson was sentenced to three years probation, including 90 days of incarceration, by U.S. District Judge Walter S. Smith, Jr. Rollerson must also pay a $1,000 fine and a $100 special assessment.

According to court documents, the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency investigators and the U.S. Army Criminal Investigations Unit received information that Rollerson, an employee at Access Care Management at Darnall, was obtaining hydrocodone by using fraudulent prescriptions at pharmacies in Harker Heights and Killeen.

Rollerson admitted that she was addicted to prescription pain medication, and was taking up to 50 hydrocodone pills a day, the documents stated.

The documents also state that Rollerson fraudulently obtained more than 4,200 tablets, including hydrocodone, lorazapam and oxycodone.

Rollerson was arrested in November 2013, and pleaded guilty to the changes against on Jan.16.
