One man died after a shooting in a central Killeen neighborhood.

Taron Marquise Tillman-Ratliff, 20, of Killeen was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Claudia Brown at 11:59 p.m. Monday.

Officers found Tillman-Ratliff in the roadway of the 2900 block of Cantabrian Drive suffering from a gunshot wound around 10:45 p.m. Monday, according to Killeen police spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez.

The case remains under investigation, according to Miramontez.

By 9 a.m. Tuesday, there was no evidence a shooting had happened the night before. Any trace of police tape was gone, and the stretch of fourplexes was quiet, with hardly anyone outside of their home.

A deflated basketball lie in the middle of the street, which was free from other debris, except some stray garbage.

One of the few people outside of her car Tuesday said the sound of gunshots is common in that neighborhood.

In the past month, there have been six reported crimes in that neighborhood. Three of them were property crimes, two were aggravated assaults and one was a failure to identify as a fugitive.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the case to contact Bell County Crime Stoppers at 254-526-8477. If your tip leads to the arrest of the person responsible for the homicide, you could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 cash.
