Newly released documents revealed three people were detained by Killeen police in connection with the shooting death of 36-year-old SungJin Farris.

Farris was killed early Wednesday after he was shot in the chest outside an apartment complex on Wolf Street in Killeen.

Arrest affidavits from the Killeen Police Department stated that two individuals, identified as 27-year-old Jonathan Shawn Allen Holmes, 28-year-old Jamie Lynn Torres and a woman who was not charged, were inside a vehicle seen leaving the scene of the shooting that morning.

According to affidavits, a police officer attempted to pull over a maroon Cadillac that matched the description of a vehicle seen leaving the scene.

When the officer attempted to pull the car over, the driver traveled eight blocks before coming to a stop in an alley behind a local business.

Holmes was identified as the driver of the vehicle, and Torres and the unnamed woman were passengers. Officers found a .40-caliber gun in the glove box. Three .40-caliber shell casings were at the scene of the shooting, the affidavit stated.

All three were detained by Killeen police for questioning and transported to the Killeen City Jail.

The affidavit stated that all three had bags placed over their hands to preserve any gunshot residue that might be on them.

According to an affidavit, Torres tore the bags off and washed his hands before they could be tested for gunshot residue.

As of Friday, none of the three had been charged with Farris’ death.

Holmes was arraigned Friday on a felony charge of evading arrest with a motor vehicle.

Torres also was arraigned Friday on a felony charge of tampering with physical evidence.

Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin set bail at $500,000 each.
