COPPERAS COVE — Two men were released on $20,000 bond each after both were charged with assault with a deadly weapon — one with a bat and the other with a BB gun.
Justice of the Peace John Guinn arraigned Christian Lee Lucas on Sunday for allegedly hitting his girlfriend and waving a gun in her face.
On Saturday, witnesses told officers that Lucas allegedly threw the gun in a pile of leaves and took off running when he heard police sirens en route to the residence on South 23rd Street.
The gun was located in the 1400 block of South 23rd Street and police determined it was a BB gun.
The victim told officers Lucas hit her and waived a gun in her face threatening her.
Officers observed significant swelling to the victim’s right eye and sent her to be examined at Metroplex Hospital, according to police.
In an unrelated incident Tuesday, Benny Ray Manning was arrested and charged for allegedly threatening family members with a baseball bat.
According to police reports, Manning was allegedly intoxicated.
When officers arrived, Manning was holding a baseball bat and the other male in the house was allegedly defending himself with a chair.
The two females in the house allegedly corroborated the story. Manning was arraigned the same day by Guinn.
