During the Labor Day holiday DWI enforcement, the Texas Department of Public Safety made 1,700 arrests for allegedly driving drunk.
The state agency made 1,682 DWI arrests during the 18-day period of increased enforcement. DPS Highway patrol credited 218 of those arrested to the holiday patrols.
