Two men charged with the possession of a pound of methamphetamine were indicted by a Bell County grand jury Wednesday.

Timothy Benolkin, 49, of Round Rock and Ricky Williams, 32, of Bertram were arrested on Nov. 30 after a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper pulled over the silver Cadillac they were riding in on Interstate 35 south of Salado and smelled marijuana.

Both Williams and Benolkin told the officer that they smoked marijuana earlier in the day, according to the affidavit for arrest, and the deputy proceeded to search the vehicle.

While searching the vehicle, the officer found a glass pipe and burnt marijuana in the center console, according to the affidavit for arrest. Underneath the front passenger seat was a package that contained more than a pound of a crystal-like substance, which later tested positive for methamphetamine, police said.
