A Fort Hood soldier was arrested Thursday and charged with the sexual assault of a child for allegedly having sex with a 15-year-old girl.
Jacob Michael Baca, 21, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, was charged with the second-degree felony after an investigation by the Bell County Sheriff’s Department Special Crimes Unit.
Baca’s rank is specialist and he has been at Fort Hood since November 2016, Fort Hood officials said Friday.
Maj. T.J. Cruz, Bell County Sheriff’s Department spokesman, said the girl reported the incident May 7.
An arrest affidavit said the girl’s father reported to Bell County Lt. Michele Cianci that his daughter left their home without permission at 10:30 p.m. on May 7, and didn’t come home until 5:30 a.m. on May 8. The alleged victim was dropped off at a bridge down the road from their home and she got out of a green four-door vehicle. The father wrote down the license plate and followed the vehicle back to the Fort Hood gates.
The Fort Hood criminal investigation division reportedly identified the vehicle and said that it belonged to Baca, the affidavit said.
A forensic sexual assault exam was done June 12 during which the alleged victim admitted to have sex with Baca multiple times, and the last time was on May 6.
Baca was interviewed by Cianci and, after warnings, said that he met the girl on a dating application and they started dating. He admitted that he had sex with the victim, and the last time was on May 6 in his car parked near her house.
The arrest affidavit was issued Aug. 9 by Bell County Justice of the Peace David Barfield.
Baca was in the Bell County Jail on Friday, held in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
