Fort Hood soldier found guilty of possessing child pornography

FORT HOOD — A Fort Hood soldier was found guilty Thursday of possession of child pornography and obstruction of justice, according to information released from the 1st Cavalry Division’s Staff Judge Advocate.

Spc. Johnnie M. McDonald, 29, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, was sentenced to seven years of confinement, reduction to the rank of private, forfeiture of all pay and allowances and a dishonorable discharge.

According to Fort Hood officials, the possession charges occurred between Jan. 13, 2012, and May 15, 2012. The obstruction of justice occurred on or about May 15, 2012.

Jail records show McDonald was booked into the Bell County Jail in Belton on Friday. Army Corrections Command will decide where he will serve out his sentence, according to Fort Hood officials.
