Killeen police arrested a 40-year-old man on rape charges after an 8-year-old girl in New York reported he had sexually abused her several times this year in Killeen.
Authorities charged Michael Lou Cain with aggravated sexual assault in connection with the girl’s accusations, which were made to sheriff’s deputies in Onondaga County.
Forensic investigators interviewed the girl in Syracuse, N.Y., where she indicated Cain had raped and molested her several times, beginning when she was 7 years old. The most recent instance of alleged abuse took place in May, according to an arrest affidavit.
Authorities learned of possible abuse after the girl made the accusations to a woman known to her. The alleged rapes took place while the girl was living in the same household as Cain, the affidavit stated.
Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin arraigned Cain on Saturday, setting his bail at $100,000. Cain remained in Bell County Jail on Monday.
Potvin also arraigned Jerry Wayne Horton Jr., 41, on an unrelated charge of possession of a controlled substance, less than 1 gram.
