A Killeen man involved in a nearly 90-minute armed standoff with Killeen police June 5 was indicted by a Bell County grand jury Wednesday.

Pablo Felix, 26, was indicted on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Police were called to a residence in the 400 block of Taurus Street at 12:52 p.m. June 5 in regard to a domestic disturbance involving a weapon.

According to court documents, Felix sent a text message to his wife stating their 3-year-old son had fallen and injured his head. When his wife returned to the house, Felix accused her of using drugs, pointed a gun at her and said he was “ashamed of her,” the documents stated

Felix’s wife stated he was holding their 3-year-old when he pointed the gun at her, according to the arrest affidavit. The report also stated Felix put the gun in his pocket and told his wife if she entered the residence he would “beat her up.”

According to reports, the woman was able to escape the residence, but was not able to retrieve their son. The incident caused Killeen’s SWAT team to be dispatched and several neighboring homes to be evacuated. Felix was taken into custody at 2:15 p.m. when he exited the home. The child was unharmed.

The arrest affidavit stated that upon entering the residence, police observed a Glock pistol on the couch with a fully loaded magazine, a firearm in the night stand and another in a bedroom closet. Officers also found a glass bong on the kitchen table and plastic bags with white rocks appearing to be cocaine in a building in the backyard.

Bell County District Attorney Henry Garza said the prosecution will make a determination on proceeding with additional charges once lab tests on the recovered substances are returned.
