Grand jury indicts teen accused of setting fire to garage

BELTON — A Bell County grand jury indicted a 19-year-old Killeen man Wednesday who is accused of intentionally setting fire to a garage because he was bored.

Jamear Deandre Robinson was indicted on a charge of arson. He could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

Robinson has remained in custody since his arrest on Sept. 18. He was in Bell County Jail on Wednesday with bail set at $50,000.

Court documents state Robinson set fire to a plastic bag of leaves and grass clippings inside the garage of a vacant home. The fire caused damage to the garage door.

Fire investigators at the scene saw Robinson’s mother yelling at him. She asked if he set the fire and he nodded yes, the affidavit states.

She then said, “What is wrong with you? Don’t you have anything better to do with your time?” the affidavit states.

Robinson later told a Killeen firefighter he started the fire in the garage because he was bored, the affidavit states.

The grand jury also returned indictments against the following:

  • Chad Patronelli, 45, of Belton, on a charge of possession of methamphetamine, less than 1 gram.
  • Rodolfo Torres, 24, of Salado, on a charge of evading arrest with a motor vehicle.
  • James Jerrod Williams, 22, of Killeen, on a charge of evading arrest with a motor vehicle.
  • Ruben James Vasek, 23, of Belton, on a charge of burglary with intent to commit theft.
  • Janie Elizabeth Pickens, 53, of Temple, on a charge of possession of methamphetamine, less than 1 gram.
  • Korey Aundrey Jerome, 19, of Temple, on a charge of possession of marijuana, 5 pounds or less.
  • Montego Cardell Morgan, 26, of Temple, on a charge of possession of cocaine, less than 1 gram.
  • James Lenny Sommer, 23, of Manor, on a charge of possession of methamphetamine, less than 1 gram.
  • Cornelius Jermaine Williams, 33, of Nolanville, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, 28 grams or more.
  • Marques Dejuan Bell, 31, of Killeen, on a charge of tampering with physical evidence.
  • Daisy Ann Gehrke, 30, of Killeen, on a charge of assault on a public servant.
  • Octavio Mendez-Escamilla, 23, of Killeen, on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
  • Eli Letrell Smith, 19, of Killeen, on a charge of deadly conduct.
  • George Edward Smith, 26, of Killeen, on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by felon.
  • Solomon Clarence Sanders, 29, of Killeen, on a charge of evading arrest with a motor vehicle.
  • Daniel John Ray, 30, of Killeen, on a charge of burglary of a habitation.
  • Jovita Vaughan, 20, of Killeen, on a charge of possession of methamphetamine, 4 grams or more.
  • Jimmy Lee Hernandez, 28, of Harker Heights, on a charge of possession of methamphetamine, 4 grams or more.
