BELTON — A Harker Heights man suspected in an Austin murder was apprehended by authorities in Belton on Thursday evening.

Earnest Brassell, 35, was taken into custody just after 7 p.m. without incident at a residence in the 100 block of West Avenue H in Belton, according to a city news release.

Several law enforcement agencies participated in the effort, including Belton and Harker Heights SWAT teams, the U.S. Marshal’s Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and Bell County Organized Crime Unit.

Brassell is a suspect in the Dec. 29 murder of a man during a drug robbery in Austin.
