Harker Heights police are warning residents that local criminals are using Craigslist to commit various crimes.

The department said it has already come across one instance where an attempted robbery was initiated through Craigslist at a transaction meeting. The subjects advertised what appeared to be a, “too good to be true deal” on Craigslist.

The subsequent meeting revealed two convicted felons in possession of firearms, who seemed to be intent on robbing the customer, police said.

Both subjects were taken into custody.

Heights police advised residents, to use "extreme caution" when making transactions through internet sites, and to schedule any exchanges at a heavily populated area or at a local police department parking area.
