A man who was shot and killed in Harker Heights on Saturday was identified as Thomas Raymond West, 35.

He was a Harker Heights resident.

On Saturday, about 6:45 p.m., officers received a call of shots fired in the 1000 block of Indian Trail. Officers arrived almost immediately to see West lying on the ground and bleeding from entry and exit gunshot wounds in the abdomen and hip, according to Harker Heights police.

Officers talked to West while applying pressure to the wounds, said police spokesman Sgt. Steve Miller.

Harker Heights emergency medical crews arrived and attempted life-saving measures; however, West died, Miller said.

An autopsy was ordered by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke. The Harker Heights criminal investigations division is investigating.
