BELTON — A Bell County grand jury Wednesday indicted a 26-year-old Harker Heights woman on a felony drug charge.

Sunni April Strickland was indicted on a charge of possession of methamphetamine, with intent to sell, in an amount of 4 grams or more, but less than 200 grams.

According to an arrest affidavit, a Harker Heights police officer stopped Strickland at 9:10 p.m. March 28 when he observed her vehicle fail to signal a left turn on Arlo Road.

According to the officer, Strickland was extremely nervous and “shaking profusely.” She also admitted she had a previous problem with methamphetamine.

Eventually, Heights police deployed a drug-detecting dog to sniff Strickland’s vehicle.

The dog alerted police to the presence of possible narcotics. Inside the vehicle, they found a small plastic bag and a digital scale. Both had a “white, powdery residue” on them, the affidavit stated.

A search of Strickland’s purse also revealed another plastic bag that contained a “crystal-like” substance.

That substance tested positive for methamphetamine. The total weight of the meth, including packaging, was 21 grams.
