COPPERAS COVE — Police are investigating the death of a homeless man found beneath a tree in Copperas Cove this morning. Police said the 44-year-old man was found unresponsive in the 100 block of West Avenue C at 11 a.m.
He was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Bill Price at the scene.
Price ordered an autopsy, but officials said there was no suspicion of foul play at this time.
“There is no reason to believe a criminal act was committed,” said Kevin Keller, spokesman for the city. He said the homeless man was known to local authorities, and officials are trying to notify next of kin before releasing his name.
