A Houston man was charged in Killeen with forcing a girl under 18 years old to engage in prostitution.
Jonathan Ernesto Martinez, 25, was arraigned Wednesday by Justice of the Peace Claudia Brown.
Martinez is being held in the Bell County Jail on $100,000 bond.
On Nov. 21, police interviewed a girl who said Martinez threatened to harm her if she didn’t prostitute herself and give him the money from it, according to an affidavit for arrest.
The threats had been going on for a matter of months, according to the girl, and Martinez threatened to “tie her to the bed and kill her if she tried to leave,” police said.
In an unrelated case, Corey Labon Jackson, 47, was arraigned on a charge of burglary of a building.
He is charged with throwing a rock into a glass door at Bella’s African Market and stealing a jar of change Nov. 21,
Jackson, a Killeen resident, was being held Monday in the Bell County Jail on $40,000 bond.
