One man is in the hospital after he was shot at a Veterans Memorial Boulevard motel Saturday afternoon in Killeen.

Killeen police responded to a shooting call at the Liberty 6 Motel, located at 529 E. Veterans Memorial Blvd., around noon. When they arrived, they saw a man lying on the ground in the parking lot, bleeding from his leg, according to police Sgt. Edgar Maceo. The victim is expected to be OK.

The bullet entered and exited the man's leg "through and through," according to Maceo. He was brought to a local hospital by ambulance.

Witnesses told police that after hearing gunshots, they looked outside to see the man on the ground. There was a report of a car driving away from the motel at the same time, but the make, model and color of the car has yet to be verified as of 1 p.m., according to Maceo.

The man who was shot would not cooperate with police on scene, Maceo said.
