A Killeen man is in jail after police said he broke into a home with the intent to commit theft Thursday.

Jeremy Deremend Lawrence, 26, was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Claudia Brown over the weekend. He was held in the Bell County Jail on $45,000 bond as of 4 p.m. Monday.

Lawrence was seen running out the back door of his neighbor's home in Killeen carrying a white sack Thursday, according to the affidavit for arrest. The home's owner told police that property — including a handgun — was taken from his home.

Lawrence is also charged with evading arrest or detention, a Class A misdemeanor. He has also been charged with a parole violation.
