Police charged a 23-year-old Killeen man, who may have been involved in a shooting, with illegally carrying a weapon.

Darius Lee Wright was arrested on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm.

An arrest affidavit stated police were responding to a report of a shooting in the 2000 block of Meadowbrook Street in Killeen when they spotted a vehicle believed to have been involved in the shooting.

After observing an unspecified traffic infraction, police pulled Wright over. An officer spotted suspected marijuana in the car, and Wright then told police he also had a firearm.

Wright was previously convicted of evading arrest in a motor vehicle in Bell County in 2011, preventing him from owning or possession a gun.

Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin arraigned Wright on Tuesday, setting his bond at $20,000.

Potvin also arraigned Randall Lynn Carter, 28, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, less than 1 gram.
